Here the model was seated and looking away from where I was positioned. What was she looking at? Where was she? How do I capture this?

One of a series of figure studies I've begun doing this year (2006) which I am calling "Children of the Soft Machine". Yes it's far from traditional figure drawings. I sometimes find that when I'm drawing the figure and trying to get all of the little details right and the exact proportions, etc, I get frustrated. In my opinion creating Art is not about being frustrated. So I take a step back, relax, and begin again from the shoulder with soft, wide, smooth lines, and then the Children of the Soft Machine are born.
