Weathervane Art Gallery -- Friday, January 7th, 2005
I recently submitted an illustration to represent a poem by local Vermont poet T. Namaya. for his recent book GOD.SEX.POLITICS. The title of my illustration "Currency Exchange". It won first place overall. Many pieces were submitted by artists and they will all be auctioned off to the charity "GRACE Cares". A brief description of GRACE Cares taken from a recent email follows:
"Our foundation GRACE Cares supports community development in Third World Countries. We have been active in building a playground for a school in Palestine, literacy projects in Bolivia, and we are currently raising funds for a project to study the traditions and identify the medicinal plants of the Matsiguenka's Indians of Peru. We are pleased that T.Namaya and the artists will contribute funds from the Vermont Art Fusion Prize to further this work." So here's a quick breakdown of the nights events:

==================================== "ART-ON" Come see my newest series of paintings entitled "Endangered Blonde". These new works show my "maturing" style and use of color in an "attempt to thwart the possiblity of blondes actually becoming extinct in the next 200 years." On this series I quoted myself as saying "Not only am I trying to "preserve" a potentially endangered species, but I'm also trying to preserve the beauty of their surroundings on a spiritual yet physical level. Giving substance to light, shadows, and energy, and connecting everything. This is how things really are. As far as blondes actually becoming extinct, I think that was just a big hoax. It's a good idea for a body of work though, don't you think?" Also showing will be my dark, stunning, black and white illustrations which were recently shown and received great reviews! If you missed the last show, this is your second chance. Black and white illustrations and vibrantly colorful oil paintings. A must see! WHEN? - Second reception:
